The shortened 2024 RBL (Rowing Bundesliga) season, featuring just three race days, will reach its thrilling conclusion this Saturday, September 21, 2024, on the Ruhr River in Mülheim. Spectators can expect a day full of intense competition and high-stakes racing.
Who will claim the day’s victory? Which team will be crowned league champions in both the men’s and women’s divisions? How will the junior teams fare? These questions will be answered alongside the MüGa Park as the starting lights turn from red to green at 9:00 AM.
In the women’s competition, the Havel Queen Eight enters the final race as the league leader with 12 points. Unless their slip-up in Minden becomes a trend, and they can maintain their momentum from Rendsburg, the Hamburg Alstersprinter (11 points), Meenzer Express (10 points), and Osnabrück could find it tough to catch up. Meanwhile, the season’s surprise team, Sachsen Energie Eight, could potentially secure a podium finish with strong performances in Mülheim, thanks to an additional boost in form following their previous outing on the Kiel Canal.
The men’s league is set for a nail-biting conclusion. Melitta Minden – Team Black is riding high after their victory in Rendsburg and aims to defend their top spot in enemy territory — the home waters of their closest rivals, the autosen Sprintteam Mülheim. Not far behind, the Germania Eight from Frankfurt has rediscovered their form and could upset the standings, while several teams remain in the hunt for vital league points and podium spots. The Hamburg Active City Xpress, Ottoachter from Magdeburg, Osnabrück Men’s Eight, and Hauptstadtsprinter DWB Holding Team will all battle it out for position, with nothing yet set in stone.
